The IdISBa drives reforms to achieve gender equality

The Balearic Islands Health Research Institute is committed to help achieve gender equality. On November 2019, the IdISBa’s Gender Equality Plan was passed so as to identify and reduce gender inequality in the workplace, reconcile professional and private life, combat gender violence, and promote and raise awareness of women in health research.

With these objectives in mind, the IdISBa also approved the creation of the Gender Equality Commission, an advisory body to the Institute’s employees on gender matters. This body is responsible for proposing actions aimed at achieving effective equality between men and women in the Institute and for ensuring that these actions are properly executed.

The Commission, with 17 members (9 women and 8 men), includes representatives of each entity associated to the Institute. Moreover, these members also represent all research career stages deliberately.

The Gender Equality Plan is part of the IdISBa’s policy regarding its human resources; as it is established in its Action Plan on Human Resources and in accordance with the European Commission’s ‘Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R)’.
